A simplified steps on how to remove a website/property/URL from Google Search Console or webmaster tools. A few reasons could be you don’t own the site or domain anymore that can through selling or expired.

1 (one) Google Search Console account which you created using your Gmail account can have around 1000 (one thousand) websites give or take.

FIRST, Login or go to your Google Search Console dashboard.

If you have multiple sites click on the triangle next to your domain to expand with option and choose your preferred website you want to remove or delete

SECOND, Scroll down the options section which is on the left side of the interface, choose settings and click on the remove property button under property settings

LASTLY, A popup page which says remove property will be shown and click on the remove property text option

GOOGLE SEARCH CONSOLE DNS VERIFICATION

It is a free tool provided by Google to everyone who owns a website or webmasters the only thing you need to do to register or submit your website/site

FIRST, open your browser and search for a search console or Google search console. Click on the first listing

SECOND, It will show you the Google search console page and click on start now button

THIRD, Welcome to Google search console page will be shown and enter or add your domain name under Domain option

FOURTH, Sign in to your service provider e.g Namecheap, Godaddy, etc. and copy the verification code

FIFTH, Choose domains, select a domain if you have multiple, DNS settings or zone, and add TXT (Text) record

Go back to search console and click on verify button


LASTLY, A popup page with ownership will be verified, you can click on either done or go to the property button

FEATURES OF GOOGLE SEARCH CONSOLE

The general or unique features of Google search console will be explained in a short, simple and easy way to understand for anyone who’s just getting started

I am using one of my micro niche website for example which is in it’s 8 (eight) month for the screenshot or images but it still hasn’t peak and plateau

OVERVIEW

It has three parts such as Performance, Coverage, and Enhancements. You can expand each one of them by clicking on the open report text

I will do a little elaborate on each one of them separately through this post

PERFORMANCE

By default, it shows you a data of three months but it used to be one month. It shows

a) Total clicks: Pageviews or clicks from SERP (Search Engine Result Page) to your website/blog,

b) Total Impressions: The numbers of times your post/posts is shown in SERP,

c) Average CTR: The percentage of click form SERP and 5% is considered high value, and

d) Average position: The position or number where your post is in SERP.

Scroll down, You will have more options such as

a) Queries: what phrases or sentence people search for your article or blog to show up,

b) Pages: It refers to a specific article or blog,

c) Countries: Where your article or blog is shown,

d) Device: Its people use to view your content such as Mobile, Desktop and tablet, and

e) Search Appearance: Search results like title, URL, Snippets, product rich or featured snippets, Sitelinks, Breadcrumbs and search within a site.

Search type option (Pen or Pencil logo): By expanding, You can check or see the performance for Web, Image, and video which you have included or use it within your content.

You can do a comparison for any two of the performance such as web, image, and video

DATE

You can check for the performance of the Last 7 days, 28 days, 3months, 6 months,12 months, 16 months and custom option including

Comparision for the last 7 days, 28 days, 3 months, 6 months to the previous option

If your website is years old then you can do a comparison of 7 days, 28 days and 3 months year over year and custom option

URL INSPECTION

It can be used to submit your website/ blog post/ article to crawled by bots and to fix if a problem occurs in one or more of your pages

COVERAGE

It has an option such as

a) Error: the numbers will be shown and how-to or guide will be shown as well,

b) Valid with a warning: You just need to keep an eye on it nothing serious,

c) Valid: The amount of index pages/posts and are in SERP, and

d) Excluded: It is intentionally excluded by bots or by you.

SITEMAP

A sitemap helps Google bots to crawl the pages/posts of your website. An XML file that has the lists of all your URL’s in a website

ENHANCEMENTS

As of making this blog post, it is a recently incorporated feature but not new. Google’s own product page speed insight to check the speed or time it takes to open or load each and every page when visited by people is monitored.

CORE WEB VITALS

Largest Contentful Paint: The time it takes to load or upload your content to the user after clicking on your website link

Ideal time is 2.5 seconds or faster and is acceptable up to 4 seconds

First Input Delay: How long it takes for your page contents to load and a user a interact with it

Ideal time should be 100 milliseconds or less and is acceptable up to 300 milliseconds

Cumulative Layout Shift: The page layout information such as link, button, etc. doesn’t change while you are interacting with it

Ideal value should be 0.1 and up to 0.25 is acceptable

MOBILE USABILITY

Make sure your website/blog theme has the mobile version as well which when someone visits your site from a mobile it will load or show the smartphone or mobile version

LINKS

It has three parts such as

a) External links: The posts/pages which are used to link back to your website,

b) Internal links: It shows you the connections between you posts/pages,

c) Top linking sites: The website/domain which links to your website/blog, and

d) Top linking Text: The words/sentences use to link back to your website/blog.

How to change HTTP to HTTPS in Google search console

After securing your website Here is how to change HTTP to HTTPS in Google search console or webmaster tools. Both version of your HTTP (not secure) and HTTPS (secure) needs to register or added to a single account

Google search console considers both the version as two different properties or websites. It will do 301 redirects and verification for both sites

FIRST, Go/login to your account, open/select the HTTP or not secure of your site and choose the settings option

SECOND, Click on change of address option under settings

THIRD, Expand the domain or URL rectangular, choose the HTTPS or secure version and click on the validate & update button

LASTLY, A popup page for validation will be shown and click on the confirm move button

The guide will help you on how to add a user to a Google search console or webmaster tools. As a webmaster or site owner to register/add your website and can track the performance in SERP (Search Engine Results Page). It is a free tool from Google.

FULL vs RESTRICTED

There is two option such as full is where you made a person an Admin who will have access to the search console like you the owner/admin wheres In restricted is where you invite/hire someone just to manage the account doesn’t have access to sitemaps, removals, and settings like an Admin/owner

FIRST, log in to your account dashboard, choose settings and select user & permissions

SECOND, click on the add user button which is blue in color at the upper right side

LASTLY, A popup page will be shown

Enter the email > Choose either Full or Restricted under permission > click on the Add option

HOW TO REMOVE USER/YOURSELF FROM GOOGLE SEARCH CONSOLE

The process is applicable for removing a user and yourself from an account. An image with instructions are added to help you with the action you need to take on your account

FIRST, Go to your account dashboard, choose settings and click on users & permissions

SECOND, Look horizontally to the email, click on the three dots which are placed vertically and click on remove access

LASTLY, Apoup page will be shown and click on remove user

How to disavow backlinks in Google search console

Got spam links this is how to disavow backlinks in Google search console and the other name is Google webmaster tools. If you are looking for this post I bet you already did your research and want to remove those because it can hurt your website from an SEO point of view

This is a free tool provided by Google to any website/blog owner so, you can use it get rid off those links that you don’t want and like but make sure you do proper research about the site

FIRST, Open a notepad from your computer which I believe is present on every computer. Enter or add the Domain or URL of the sites and save it

A notepad file format is in .txt

SECOND, You can search for it from your browser as Google disavow tool

OR,

Click on the question mark on the upper right side of your search console, you will have a popup page and search from disavow backlinks, scroll down and then find the sentence which says disavow links tool page

Just make sure you are login in from the right G-mail account

THIRD, You domain name will be shown or if you have multiple you can choose from it and click on the disavow links button

FOURTH, It will load a new page and click on the disavow links button again

FIFTH, A page will load for you where you can upload the file you created earlier. You can upload that file by clicking on the choose file button and browse through your computer

SIXTH, You will be shown a page where inside a rectangular box it will say successful in a sentence

How to add sitemap in Search Console

WHAT IS SITEMAP?

A map of a website. It is either an XML or HTML file that contains all the URLs of the pages on a website/blog.

The HTML sitemap helps a visitor to navigate through a website/blog whereas XML sitemap is used by bots to crawl through a site for search engines

HOW TO MAKE SITEMAP FOR BLOGGER

FIRST, log in to your Google search console or webmaster tools and click on the sitemaps option on the left side of your dashboard

SECOND, you need to create and enter a sitemap for your site which can be done if different ways. I use the method and I think it’s the simplest one I know

Just need to change the word ‘your domain’ to your domain or URL and click on the submit button

LASTLY, If it works you can see success under the status.

As long as you don’t make a mistake entering the details the success rate is high from my experience

HOW TO MAKE SITEMAP FOR WORDPRESS

From my experience, this is not necessary as long as your website has a search console account or webmaster tools. Google search engine bots pick up fairly quickly but will still take a few weeks

Login to your search console and click on the sitemaps option

SECOND, create a sitemap for your site and enter the code

https://yourdomain/sitemap.xml (enter your domain or URL instead of ‘your domain’)

It might not work in your first try but doesn’t mean it will never. I am just sharing my experience

LASTLY, When you see success under that status it works but will some to the number of URL’s

HOW TO REMOVE SITEMAP FROM GOOGLE SEARCH CONSOLE

A few reasons I can think of is when you enter sitemap it couldn’t fetch, read or you change your domain or URL’s

FIRST, Go to your Google search console or webmaster tools and click on the sitemaps option

SECOND, Click on the sitemap you want to remove

THIRD, It will load a new page, click on the three dots which are placed vertically on the upper right side and click on the trash can or remove sitemap

LASTLY, It will show you a small popup page and click on the Remove button
